Seek

Have you ever researched a word in the Bible? Picked one that meant something to you and looked up verses that included it? Last night after midnight I was up and the word "seek" came to my mind so strongly that I had to index it and look at different passages with it.

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
Jeremiah 29:11

"If you seek Him, He will be found by you."
1 Chronicles 28:9

"Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near."
Isaiah 55:6

Here is what I wrote in my journal:

What is Seeking? Is something hidden? Lost? Undiscovered like a treasure? Something that one knows exists in the heart or mind and acts upon that belief to find it. A visitational "seek." As in "I seek my Uncle." Trying to find them-something again you know is concrete and desired. "Seeking" is by the choice of the seeker. It is not pressured or told, its voluntary because it comes from the heart. Seeking happens because the seeker believes it is possible to find, it is not a task that will never succeed. Seeking is all eyes and ears, the senses OPEN, willing, and working to detect what you are looking for. It is intentional. It is a commitment you invest in even before you actually find it.

Seeking God: God is known to man, but there are certain aspects that are more like treasures of God's beautiful Love that we may not notice unless we open our hearts and minds to seek them. God asks us to "seek Him." This happens in so many wonderful ways!

First, decide in your heart that you want to seek Him, know Him, and discover these treasures about His Love. Opening our hearts to the possibility of God-filled encounters gives our soul a detection ability so the Holy Spirit may help us notice these precious moments. It is actually a learned process. Just like when you or a friend is getting married and you begin to notice wedding things everywhere. So will it be with "seeking" and finding God. Once your eyes, heart and soul learn and open a "switch" will go on and you will begin to see a while new world of God's Love begging for you to notice!

Then ask God for wisdom to seek Him. A prayer of Love and adoration to God! Perhaps it could look something like this:

Dear God,

Your Word tells me to seek You. I want to seek You and find you and know more about Your Love, Wisdom, and Truth. I open up my heart, mind, and soul to You and only You and ask that You would speak to my heart. Help me seek You in Scripture, in experiences both good and bad, with friends and family and by simply worshipping You. It is so important that I seek and know You Lord. I need Your Love in my life. It brings so much Joy, Peace, and Comfort to me to walk beside You as your child. So Lord, I will open my eyes today and expect to see You somewhere and in something that happens. And when that happens, I will Rejoice and be happy, and then keep looking for more!

Amen.

If we don't expect to discover His Love, then we are setting ourselves up for disappointment. So often in our Christian culture we believe scripture, listen at church, sing, and smile to others - but we limit God on His Power within our hearts. It's truly a sad time in this season, because with so much adversity, there is so much opportunity to Believe and Believe in a way that uses great Faith! And it is not like Jesus is saying "save your true Faith for when you really need it." No, He's calling us to use it NOW! We have to treat our daily lives seriously. The battle is real and our weapon of TRUTH is even more real! We should rise up with our claim to adoption as God's children and expect to hear from our God. Again, Jeremiah 29:11 he tells us to EXPECT it, He says "You will find Me!" He wants to show His Love to you. He doesn't want to keep it. He showed this by Jesus. If you dare to Believe, because, yes, Believing is a risk sometimes, God WILL answer - your Faith in Believing and expecting His Love pleases Him GREATLY!

With eyes, heart, and soul open, with a heart submitted and teachable, and with a great and joyous expectation to experience Him...THIS is seeking Him. And we will find Him. Stretch yourself today. It may be a little thing you have never noticed before...a snowflake, a flower, someones kindness to you, or watching someones kindness to another, you may get a word in your head and find an amazing scripture, or feel an emotion of Peace, Love, and Joy that you haven't in a long time. There's so many results from seeking the Lord, don't limit what it may look like!

*****Warning***** Just remember we live in a fallen world with an enemy whose goal is to pervert, kill and destroy any and all possibility of encountering the True Love of God. Be aware of this and pray against any and all agenda's that would keep you from seeking and knowing God. Do not get discouraged if you do not hear something. Sometimes I don't, but OH, when I do it is precious. That in itself is seeking...don't give up until you find it!

I finished this entry well after 2 pm, snuggled with Gracey and fell back asleep, seeking.

I love doing that. I love researching words and making connections. The moment when a light comes on that you didn't know was there is such a sweet moment!
